So we have been waiting for something NEW, FRESH AND EXCITING for women’s power dressing. So far what we have seen are STAPLES for our office fashion needs but we have been clamoring and praying that a new design perspective will be presented to us this RESORT 2013.

THEN THE FASHION GODS GAVE US THE 3.1 PHILLIP LIM RESORT 2013 COLLECTION…

In the past year, we have always raved about this fashion line. It is always because of its sophisticated minimalist approach to their clothes. The fashion line has always been reliable about designing and manufacturing something exquisite. The items are always a great investment as they become an instant classic in your  wardrobe. Such is the grace of the 3.1 PHILLIP LIM fashion line.

However, as a fashion line — it must remain dynamic or else it will be banished to fashion obscurity. When stylywear.com saw the 3.1 PHILLIP LIM RESORT 2013 collection, we were a little bit nervous as (expected) the fashion line has come up with classic and timeless pieces for corporate style.

Tops, blazers, skirts and bottoms that are solid in color and minimalist in design, which is perfect for office wardrobe building. Each piece is a perfect canvass for other more ‘dastardly debonair’ items to rev it up with. But then again, how many timeless pieces do you need in your closet? Just a few as a foundation of your wardrobe or else you will become boring. It’s a good thing then that the greatest thing has happened— the collection has, by far, created a whole new perspective for women’s power dressing!

Ladies, you will never look at stripes in your office garb the same way again!

The collection has featured suits and tops and skirts combinations that are stripes in print but has a blast of florals in specific parts of it. At first, we were dismayed by the way it was executed (the brown item above with floral embroidery all over), it comes off as tacky and cheap, which is never a good trait to be associated with any personal style. But then at the end of the collection, you will see suits that have a blast of floral print at the mid section! The tweak in the design alone is enough to make you gasp with awe as something fresh and new has been introduced for Resort 2013 fashion!

Although stripes and florals are common for female power dressing, the combination of these two print staples is the one that made us feel happy with glee to present it to all corporate femmes out there. So far, for the RESORT 2013 collections, we have only seen solid colored to united prints all over. But with the combination of 2 prints in a single fashion item, this gives the collection a whole new look. It has definitely elevated or at least renewed our perception of office style!

In conclusion, the 3.1 PHILLIP LIM RESORT 2013 collection is a gem for power dressing. It has revitalized our senses with the combination of two prints (stripes and florals). Although in silhouette there is nothing new and fresh, at least with a little tweak in the design of the material itself, there is. We are again, dazzled by this fashion line’s ability to re-create and re-design the classics.
