The heat is on! The sweat is dripping and the call of the cool air conditioning of the mall is absolutely STRONG AND WILD! So what do you do? Resist? OF COURSE NOT! This is your opportunity to shine this summer and what better way to do that than playing with colors!

Now before you get ahead and put on a rainbow of an outfit, here are some fashion tips that you may want to know. First, consult the color wheel. The colors across each other are the best combination of colors. Next, minimize the number of colors involved. Sometimes, too much of a good thing will make you end up with a fashion disaster! Third, get one highlight and lowlight. This is a classic style combination. It makes sure that you are still looking grounded and not exaggerated in either spectrum of feeling — too light and bright and the too sad and drab.

The outfit above is a great example of this combination. The Fun Cool Blue Carbotti Bag is a great piece to start with. Then pair it with a light blue denim outerwear for that casual feel and the bridge towards your bright printed yellow maxi dress. Jason Wu is one of the most celebrated designers of the year. The designer’s signature look is always the sophisticated woman with a touch of oriental flair. The belted top is another great way to style yourself. It actually gives a visual representation of your waistline. Going down this style route also accentuate both your chest and hips area. It also gives you (as a result of the previous reason) a more fluid and hour glass figure. It is also a great way of accessorizing yourself in a simple manner without all the jingle, jangle of a bling.

Placing a belt on a top is one of the easiest style methods one can actually do. Just get a belt (almost any kind would do but in particular this season we find thin to 2 inches thick to be the most prevalent) and wrap it over your top instead of your bottom. Usually associated with keeping your pants up, the belt at this point has been used in a different light. One of the main themes in Resort 2013 is the actual act of what you do during this year — relax. We are talking about lounging around the pool with a mojito in one hand and an international high fashion magazine on the other. As such, one of the major hairstyles seen on the Resort 2013 runways is the relaxed hair.

The relaxed hair style is actually very easy to pull off. All you need to do is to just make it look like you have just let your hair go and take its course. To achieve a nice fresh look, shampoo your hair and towel dry a little. Then comb it to get the tangles out. Afterwards, have your hair air dried or a soft blow dry would do.

Some options to make your hair look shiny and healthy is by using some products. Our best bet is to get those light hair cuticle coat. If you can’t find one, (and this is odd but true) you can use light baby oil (just 2-3 drops on your palm) on your palm and rub first before you apply from MIDDLE part of your hair to the tips (not the top). This way, you can have that little shine and control without a lot of products wearing it down (it will look lazy and dirty if it is and we are aiming for the ‘relaxed’ look).

This does look good beside the pool. The question is, does it look good near the table in your cubicle? Our answer is YES. It can!

I guess your greatest fear with regards to this hairstyle is that it can become untidy. Of course, your fears are a little valid. Having the relaxed hairstyle is against the grain of high corporate surroundings (no one is relaxed in there — keep on doing work, work and more work!). Also, if this hair style is not done tastefully, you can end up looking like you actually have not bothered to comb, which is an absolute ‘no-no’ in the view of the human resources department (or anyone in that matter). But with a little tweak of this hairstyle trend you can definitely incorporate this to your daily look in the office!

The point of the hairstyle is actually showing your hair in its natural and best state. This means that you just need to make sure that it looks, neat and clean that it possibly can. The best way to go about it is to prepare the night before. Shampoo and condition your hair at night (hair tip, for daily conditioners, it’s nice to leave this on for 3 minutes on your hair before you rinse. That way, your hair has time to absorb the benefits of your trusted product). Then you can go for heavy treatment conditioners (those leave on for three minutes and more type of thing). After that, towel dry and comb your hair. You can then add a leave on conditioner on your hair and go to sleep. In the morning, don’t shower and just comb your hair neatly. You can even do the tip earlier to keep it shiny and a little bit more controlled if you like. (We are talking about the cuticle coat or light baby oil.)

Overall, the hairstyle may be too relaxed in the office but with the right way of getting that look, it can actually end up looking polished, beautiful and great!

Forget the one slit at the side. Forget the one slit at the back. BOTH are passé! This Resort 2013, the designers have paraded a lot of double front slit skirts!

What are double front slit skirts?

Basically they are pencil skirts (or even full ones) that has to small slits at the front part of the skirt. This actually shows double the leg glamour!

But then we have to think about the appropriateness in the work area. To be honest, this trend (the double front slit skirt) is a little more dangerous than its cousin the huge SIDE SLIT. This is because the trend is about maximum 3 inches long and it reveal more of the knees and legs rather than the side of the leg, which is of course, more sensual (not unless of course, some of your co-workers are in for the knees).

However, majority of this double front slit skirts are made out of a strong material. Therefore, there is a form of structure and the slit will not start displaying your legs every now and then without your notice (simply because it falls off here and there with the soft cloth). The slit will also not open too wide. So there is need to worry for too much exposure.

The double front slit skirt is a trend on the runway, but time will tell if it will be accepted in the streets. This can be a little daunting at work, but with the right length of the skirt and as well as the slits’ height, it can still become passable. Furthermore, you can wear tights underneath so that it can be more professional looking for work. This way, your legs can become more elongated and your look can become more sophisticated.

The detailing of the skirt is actually more on the silhouette forming of it rather than an added flair of style. As such, it can be both a canvass and a focal item of any corporate fashion ensemble. TEXTURE! TEXTURE! TEXTURE!

That is the whole theme of the CHANEL FALL 2012 COUTURE. To be honest, it’s a little bit disappointing as it seems like this is just an extension of the Chanel Resort 2013 collection. To be blunt about it, it almost looks the same, minus the color.

The silhouettes and again texture are almost the same in both collections. We here in stylywear.com have to wonder — did they run out of creative juices?

If you actually mix both collections together it will still be cohesive. Textures abound in this collection and frankly, there is nothing new offered in both (in terms of corporate wear). Maybe the fashion line thought that they can just elevate it via the visuals of the runway, but the real observers of fashion would know — there is absolutely little to no difference in both collections.

If we are going to talk about the ‘little difference’, maybe the Resort 2013 collection of Chanel is more on the couture side. Honestly, who would wear a thick fabric in such hot heat? Also the designs showcased in the collection will definitely not be one of the best sellers in the streets as only a few people can definitely pull it off. (Water can bags, anyone?)

In addition to that, the Chanel Fall 2012 couture collection looks more down to earth and more wearable than the previous collection of the fashion line. This can definitely be worn in the streets for Fall 2012. It’s a little chilly out there, you will need thick fabrics!

So aside from the devastating news that the Chanel Fall 2012 couture collection is a (little) total let down, is there a bright side? Well, if we are going to talk about relevance, for sure this collection will be a big hit to the masses (should there be cheaper ones produced!). The texture and thickness of the fabric will be perfect for the environment. Furthermore, the color black is well accepted during this time of year, being one of the major (and mega) trends that appears every year.

Also, the silhouettes of the items in the said current collection are more grounded and less outrageous. There is nothing innovative about it rather than the fabric used. So you know that it’s easy to pair with other fashion items. Because of its texture, it is obvious that these clothes are meant to become the statement piece of your outfit. So lessen the accessories and let this baby shine!

Overall, the Chanel Fall 2012 Couture collection is a great disappointment because as a couture collection it is supposed to be something unique and highly creative. Unfortunately, the Resort 2013 collection of the fashion line has that element more than this one. We are then left to wonder if there has been a planning mishap or is this part of Chanel’s fashionable plot to keep us hooked?
