The color blue is prevalent in the majority of the RESORT 2013 collections. This is not a surprise as the collections are meant for the vacation during hot summer days. There is a need for cool colors to come into play to the fashion items. And of course, when ‘cool colors’ are considered, you cannot get rid of the suggestion of ‘blue’.
But then again, the color blue can be a little bit bland and cannot flatter most skin colors (you may end up looking too pale or too strong with it). So how can one wear it properly? Let’s look at the runways for some styling inspirations on how to use it in different ways to bring about different fashion effects on your body and overall style.
BLUE LAYERS
One way of playing with the color blue into your wardrobe is to actually learn how to layer over it to give it out a whole new depth and dimension to your look. It’s also a great way to revitalize any solid colored clothing so as to not look repetitive at all.
Buy some see through tops or dresses that you can layer over your blue dress/top in order to bring about a whole new texture to your outfit. Of course, do not forget to put on a blazer for a more professional look.
BLUE PRINT
The color blue was also paired up with some prints in a cut and sew style for the clothes. The way that the color blue is used here is more in a canvass sense for the outfit. You can wear blue in solid colors and pair it with something striking in print. This creates a visual texture as well as a contrast in the palette for your office garbs.
BLUE ALL OVER
They say that matching colors in your wardrobe is a big “no-no” in the modern times, but there is a twist that you can do in order to evoke this style tip and yet look modern and relevant. You can wear blue all over your office garbs but in different shades. You can also even play with a combination of a blue theme but in different combinations of plains and prints in that specific shade. This gives a more interesting outfit as matching clothes of the same palette all over your body can become very boring to the point that it’s a fashion mistake.

One of the most obvious trend of the Resort 2013 collections is the stripe print. It is seen in different versions. In some clothing it’s subtle, with its thin lines disappearing and appearing on the clothing, depending on the lighting. In some, the stripe was bold and big. It can also be seen in various angles or used randomly.
Whatever way it is used, the stripe print is a definite yes for any corporate ensemble. Here are some tips on how to harness its ‘print power’ to your own personal style. Mind you, this is not about the elongating or narrowing effect of the stripe. The tips are also not about the widening effect of it, as this is already (almost) common knowledge. The fashion tips shown below are going to give you a different perspective and ways of using the stripe to your own silhouette advantage.
SUBDUED ELEGANCE
The stripe print is an instant way of looking elegant. The thinner it is, the more sophisticated it looks. Being one of the most classical of prints, the stripe evokes a sense of maturity and being in total control of the whole ensemble. It’s always a subtle way of having a pop of contrast in your whole corporate fashion outfit as well.
Pair your stripe with lighter tones or shades of fashion items and pair it with some black and gold accessories. This creates an aura of elegance and poise instantly.
CHOOSE YOUR ANGLE
Stripes are also a great way of creating some visual contrast across your body. It can visually hide, emphasize or even curve your shape, depending on where it falls and how it is placed on it. That is why, in choosing your stripe print, it is best that you choose one that fits your silhouette perfectly. This way, the stripe can flatter your body type even more.
COLOR YOUR LIFE
Another great thing about stripes this Resort 2013 is that it comes in different colors. The most refreshing kind is the one of the same color range but in both lighter and darker tone contrast. This is a great version of stripe as I can easily be paired off with other items. Since it’s not too contrasting, it can be paired with other solid colored items easily. However, because it is printed, it can also become the contrasting piece of your whole office ensemble. Choose light colored stripes for an accent piece, while dark colored ones for a more subtle hint of break in your suits.

The Resort 2013 runway was laced with a lot of prints. Loud, silent to the just right, the prints are plenty! That is why, if you are looking for some contrast, clash or even a focal point for your corporate fashion outfit, you will never run out of options as the present runway has all types of prints that you will need to get the effect that you want for your corporate ensemble.
But this poses a great question, which ones are actually appropriate? Here are the top 3 prints of Resort 2013
GET FENCED IN: THE CRISS CROSS PRINT
This is actually one of the rarest prints seen on the runway. The criss cross print or ‘fence’ looking print is a straight cut and bold print that you can definitely wear in the office. Of course, in the corporate setting, your look should always evoke a sense of professionalism and being streamlined focused. As such, the criss cross print with the clashing of lines and straight drawn diamonds is a great print to play with.
Since this type of print can become a little busy at times, it’s good to choose ones that are limited in color or at least subtle in type. This way, it’s a statement but not too loud to the point that it is distracting. Try the Alexander McQueen Resort 2013 blazer above.
EARN YOUR STRIPES: THE STRIPE PRINT
No. We are not talking about being a con artist. We are talking about the most basic of all prints — just the stripe.
The stripe print is very prevalent on the Resort 2013 collections. It comes in different variations. It can be just a hint on the garment down to the all out blast on the item. Whichever you choose, the stripe print is the most accepted and probably the most professional looking print that you can ever get for yourself.
UNLEASH YOUR INNER JANE IN THE URBAN CORPORATE JUNGLE: THE ANIMAL PRINT
Of course, where would the modern times be without the animal print? This print has already spilled from the club into the corporate setting. The animal print, if the colors are right and style correctly, can become one of the boldest statement you can ever put on in the office. It’s ravishing, alluring and outright power inducing once you get the hang of it!
In using this print, just make sure that it’s in the appropriate color and more on the realistic side. Although going for the black and pink leopard print blazer seems like an eye catching idea, maybe it’s better left hanging on your closet for other occasions. Choose the animal print that you know is close to the actual thing (in color). This way, you’ll look more polished and less tacky.

Well, the Fall 2012 couture came out, which means that majority of the most noteworthy shows have been out for RESORT 2013. As such, we are now going to start discussing what are the best things that we have seen so far on the runway. Let us start with the corporate fashion staple and all around ‘must-have’ — the blazer. Below are the top 5 blazers of RESORT 2013.
ALEXANDER MCQUEEN
It’s futuristic. It’s metallic. It’s simple in cut. It’s refreshing. It’s new. What else can you ask for in the future of corporate fashion? This Alexander McQueen Resort 2013 blazer definitely has a place on our list. In a long list of ho-hum fashion pieces and the “forgettables”, down to the “don’t even think about it”, this blazer has broken the curse and transported us to an era that we have not yet experienced — just like how fashion should be.
BALMAIN
If the Alexander McQueen Resort 2013 collection took us a step further in time, this Balmain Resort 2013 blazer took us a step back — to the eighties even! This black and white striped blazer is a striking contrast to the monotonous suit. It is also a very bold and daring statement. It’s a great investment if you want to be a fashion daredevil in the office.
DKNY
Now after we have been taken to two different time settings, we are now here at the present and modern times wherein it’s all about the color! This DKNY Resort 2013 blazer is simple in silhouette but bold in color. The great thing about this though is that it won’t go out of style as this blazer can transcend from one era to another.
VALENTINO
Speaking of another era, the Edwardian era was invoked in this romanticist blazer from the Valentino Resort 2013. The laced detailed blazer looks absolutely soft, feminine and Divine. The silhouette is also simple in cut so, it can flatter most body types and can be dressed up and down depending on the style chosen.
ZAC POSEN
This light purple, ruffled, curve hugging blazer from the Zac Posen Resort 2013 collection is a feminine corporate realization of a fashion piece. It’s all about the details, color and silhouette in this fashion piece and it’s one of the most bold statements you can ever make in the office. What is not to love about it?

If you are not fan of the slit, the overly decorated and the super simple pencil skirt or skirt in general, then you may want to try this whole new corporate fashion trend for Resort 2013 — the overlap skirt.
The overlap skirt is universally flattering and creates a sexy silhouette to any wearer. It’s the combination of a wrap dress and a slit. It’s very easy and comfortable to wear as well. Although for office purposes, it is much better that you get a skirt that is made up of a strong and structured fabric. This way, you will look more mature and poised for the office.
In fact, you can even dive in with the ‘textured fabric’ trend and combine it with this trendy fashion item for Resort 2013. Not only will this help you create a silhouette, but the visual texture makes you look grounded and a little bit more professional. It also gives a more focused look for any wearer.
Another good thing to note about this fashion trend is that aside from the textural side of it is that most of the fabrics used for the overlap skirt for the Resort 2013 collections are of simple or monotone in fabric style or print. Usually, this fashion item is in either plain or the same print all over. This way, it can become a canvass or a statement piece depending on how you style it with your other fashion items.
In addition, the overlap skirt is more on the silhouette creation side of styling one’s self, it can easily adapt to most kind of styles. You can go for the simple classic corporate outfit — overlap skirt, button down top, blazer and belt combination — or a more elaborate one — overlap skirt, tube top, vest, blazer, tights and pumps combination. Depending your own personal taste, creativity and style this fashion item can definitely be part of almost any corporate fashion ensemble.
In conclusion, the overlap skirt as a fashion trend for corporate wear this Resort 2013 is a great find and investment. It creates a flattering silhouette and depending on the fabric that it is made of, can either ground or uplift any type of office outfit. In addition, the overlap skirt can easily be dressed up or down depending on the fashion items it is paired with and as such can transcend beyond the season it is made for.

It’s actually one of the most basic ways of styling your blazer. The cropped sleeve blazer is basically lifting your blazer’s sleeves up to have that gathered look around your elbows. Not only does this add detail to your look, but it also adds a whole new style dimension to the usual streamlined sleeves of your outerwear.
There are actually three major ways to crop your blazer’s sleeve. First way is to fold the edge backwards until the middle of your forearms. Afterwards, you pull your sleeve back until the folded edge is at the end of it and just before the elbows. Next method would be to fold the edge backwards once and then pull it above your elbow. The final way to achieve a cropped sleeve blazer look is to not fold the edge at all and pull it up until your forearms or at the elbow part or even after it.
Cropping the sleeves of your blazer is actually a great way of ‘styling’ the item. Usually blazers end at the edge of your palm or at your wrist. Sometimes, it even ends at the middle of your palm. Either way, it can become boring if you just keep it wearing the same way. By styling it, you can actually stretch your dollar a bit when it comes to your blazer. You can create a whole new look and vibe with just some small tweaks in this beloved fashion item — and that is just the sleeve.
A cropped sleeve blazer can also create a whole new depth and dimension on your body. Exposing the forearms, it can actually make your whole arm a little slimmer and longer. The cropped and gathered part of the sleeve is also great in creating volume in that area. So if you are a little slim in that body part and wishes to create more muscle in that area, by all means, do this style!
But what about the women with big arms? Oddly enough, the cropped sleeve blazer can actually balance it. Because it makes the forearms exposed, that would be the first thing that they would focus on, provided that the blazer is dark in color. The cropped and gathered sleeve in the upper arm actually creates a distracting detail that would hide or even minimize that area.
Overall, the cropped sleeve blazer is a great trend to actually get into. First, you don’t even have to buy another fashion item to achieve this. You can actually do it with the current blazers that you have. So that is definitely a good reason. Next, cropped sleeves can actually flatter and accentuate your upper body, in general, and your arms in particular. So to those who needs these effects, go ahead and do this! Finally, this style trend is timeless. Anyone can do it, whatever age bracket they are in. So you know that it encompasses in terms of wearability.

Being in a high profile company requires that you also go to expensive and sometimes lavish formal events. As such, you are required to dress in accordance to the theme. Here are the top gowns that you may want to consider to have in your closet — the just in case dress.
ARMANI PRIVE FALL 2012 COUTURE

GIAMBATTISTA VALLI FALL 2012 COUTURE
This dark emerald green long gown is a great way to look matured and poised without the visual weight. It’s a grand way to make a statement without the ball gown effect. It flows beautifully against any woman’s body and smoothly with every move. The gown will flow like air during the event.
MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA FALL 2012 COUTURE
They say that orange tango is the color of the year. It exudes a youthful and energetic vibe. Don’t worry though the color is not too strong to the point that you’ll look like a traffic cone. It’s just enough to put a bright spark into your whole look. The silhouette is simple so you know that the color is the only style element that will catch the onlooker’s eye. This makes it look more sophisticated and poised. It states that you are young, but not too naïve.
VALENTINO FALL 2012 COUTURE
If you want to invoke some old Asian style into your fashion aura, then this brown Valentino Fall 2012 couture gown is for you. It looks professional, focused, poised and streamlined because of its pleated bottom part.
VERSACE FALL 2012 COUTURE
There is something exquisite and special about this Versace Fall 2012 couture gown. It makes you look like an ethereal fashion icon. The white color makes the wearer look light and oddly enough the bottom part creates a ghostly structure. It elongates the legs this way.
