Thanks to the creativity of the designers, there are now a lot of corporate slacks to choose from. From your usual straight cut, it has now grown into wide legged types. Then the slacks shrunk nearer to your thighs to your usual slim cuts. The most confusing part would be the invention of the cigarette pants. These pants kind of look like the slim cut pants but then not that tight like it at the same time.
So definitely, dressing up for work could no longer be escaped. You now have a lot of options in front of you, all you have to do is to choose.
BUT THEN WHICH ONE?
Fear not dear readers, stylywear.com will clear things out for you. Here are some of the types of corporate slacks that has been emerging on the runways and what body type flatters it the most.
THE STRAIGHT CUT
The most basic type of slacks — the straight cut is your professional staple indeed! This is the type of corporate slacks that falls from your hip and does not flair out at the bottom. Literally, when you stand up, it forms a straight light from your hips down to the ground.
This type of cut usually flatters all body types. It just depends on the type of waist level it has. For women with a curvy tummy and round bottom, opt for a high rise. Women with opposite attributes can go for the hipster to further elongate their torsos with it.
THE WIDE LEGGED
Part of the relaxed corporate trend, wide legged pants are amazing for the towering ladies who wish to cut a little from their height. These pants are not to be confused to palazzo pants though. Palazzo pants have more folds and wave when they fall on the ground (as you stand straight up). Wide legged pants fall from the most ample part of the hips and bottom and falls from there. It does not usually fold and make vertical waves. It maintains its’ straightened out texture. They are usually called ‘elephant pants’ as well, although that term is more used for denim, rather than slacks.
THE SLIM CUT VS. CIGARETTE PANTS
Now this is where it gets interesting. Slim cut pants are pants that are very tight on the lower half (SEE THE MOI MULTIPLE FALL 2012 RTW). Stand in front of the mirror and see if it creates a gap between your thighs (or there is a blatant definition of it) and as well as your two legs, then most probably the pants you are wearing is a slim cut. It is very near to your original body shape, as much as possible. Cigarette pants are not as tight (SEE VANESSA BRUNO FALL 2012). There is a definition between thighs and legs but there is still a little space between and they are straight cut. Your legs, will literally look like they are two cigarettes vertically lined up next to each other.
Slim cuts are great for women who have a curvy thigh, amidst majority’s belief. It slims you down and that is what you need. However, to further minimize the hips and thigh, wear a coat that ends mid thigh to dissipate the break in the body. Cigarette pants look great for women who needs to slim down but add a little volume on their calves.
